Professional visit by students in the DIRETIC Master’s program to the CESGA facilities

Last Wednesday, January 21, 2026, a group of students from the 8th Course in ICT Management and Information Security, who are enrolled in the fifth cohort of the Master’s Degree in ICT Management for Defense (DIRETIC Master’s Program), visited the facilities of the Galicia Supercomputing Center (CESGA) in Santiago de Compostela, accompanied by CUD-ENM faculty members Mr. José González Coma and Ms. Isabel Expósito Pérez.

Guided by Mr. Fernando Bouzas Sierra, CESGA’s Director of Promotion and Communications, the students had the opportunity to visit the facilities housing the Finisterrae III supercomputer and the Qmio quantum computer, as well as to learn firsthand about both systems, the communications networks managed by the center, and various technical support services, such as fire suppression, power, and cooling systems.

Following a guided tour of the facilities, the students attended presentations delivered by Mr. Juan Villasuso Barreiro, Senior Communications Technician, and Ms. Irais Bautista Guzmán, QuantumSpain Project Coordinator. The presentations focused on topics including fiber-optic network deployment, computing, and quantum communications and encryption, bringing the visit to a close.
