On Tuesday, June 20th, 2023, the first-year students (ASP1) of the Degree in Mechanical Engineering of the Defense University Center at the Spanish Naval Academy, visited the facilities of the company Marine Instruments located in Nigrán (Pontevedra), accompanied by the professor of the CUD-ENM Mr. Miguel Ángel Álvarez Feijoo.
The students were welcomed and accompanied by Mr. Andrés Rodríguez Morado (Marketing Manager). During the visit, which lasted approximately 2 hours, the students received a talk about the company, its main products (satellite buoys for fishing, oceanographic services, electronic fleet monitoring solutions, etc.) and its lines of research.
Then they had the opportunity to learn about the manufacturing process of already consolidated products, such as buoys, as well as some details of the projects that are currently under research and development under the premise of continuous improvement and diversification of its lines of action. It was also possible to observe the work of the large technical team of the R&D department, consisting of two different technical areas, but closely linked in the development process: satellite communications control and software development and, on the other hand, creation, design and prototyping of the physical product.
Finally, the students had the opportunity to visit the development department of the fixed-wing solar drone, whose customers include the Spanish Navy, and which represents the beginning of the Marine Instruments’ journey in the Spanish Security and Defense market.
