On Wednesday, June 18, 2025, the students of the 8th Course on ICT Management and Information Security, who are currently enrolled in the sixth edition of the University Master’s Degree in ICT Management for Defense (Master DIRETIC), visited the facilities of the Galician Agency for Technological Modernization (AMTEGA), accompanied by Professor José González Coma from the Defense University Center at the Spanish Naval Academy (CUD-ENM).

AMTEGA integrates the human, material, and budgetary resources of the technological area from all departments and various entities of the Xunta de Galicia under a single management, providing comprehensive ICT oversight and coordination.

Upon arriving at the AMTEGA facilities in the Ciudad de la Cultura (Santiago de Compostela), the students and their professor were welcomed by Mr. David Vidal, Senior Information Systems and Technologies Technician in the Systems Department; Mr. Juan Valiño, Head of the Information Technologies Section in the Systems Department; and Mr. José Gallas, Project Manager at Altia Consultores. Following the welcome, the visit to the facilities began.

The students were able to see first-hand the Integral Data Processing Center (CPD) located in the Gaiás with a surface of 1,275 square meters, which houses 2,500 servers with a storage capacity of 13 petabytes and which allows modernizing, rationalizing and homogenizing the provision of the different digital services to the citizens.

In addition to the visit to the DPC, the students received a lecture on a series of technical aspects: maintenance tasks without service interruption, classification levels for data centers, infrastructure services (energy, cooling, communications, security), systems department (storage, backup, monitoring), etc.
