Since the degree proposed in this document qualifies for the exercise of a certain profession, said degree also has other legal restrictions/conditions. Thus, Royal Decree 1393/2007 establishes that:

Artículo 12. Guidelines for the design of Graduate degrees.

9. In the case of degrees that qualify for the exercise of regulated professional activities in Spain, the Government shall establish the conditions to which the corresponding study plans must conform, which must also comply, where appropriate, with the applicable European regulations. These study plans must, in any case, be designed in such a way as to allow obtaining the necessary competences to practise this profession. To this end, the University will justify the adaptation of the study plan to said conditions.

Ninth additional provision. Verification of compliance with the conditions for degrees related to articles 12.9 and 15.4.

The Ministry of Education and Science shall specify the contents of Annex I of this Royal Decree, to which the applications for obtaining the verification of the study plans will have to comply in the cases referred to in Articles 12.9 and 15.4 of this Royal Decree, following a report from the Council of Universities and having heard, where appropriate, the professional associations concerned.

 

In this way, Ministerial Order CIN / 351/2009 defines a series of general competencies that any graduate within the Industrial Field must possess and that enable them to exercise the profession of Industrial Technical Engineer regardless of their specialty.

Section 3. Objectives: Competences to be acquired by students:

*[CG1] Skills for writing, signing and developing projects in the field of industrial engineering, whose purpose is, specializing in Mechanics, according to the knowledge acquired pursuant to paragraph 5 of this order, construction, alteration, repair, maintenance, demolition, manufacturing, installation, assembly or operation of: structures, mechanical equipment, energy facilities, electrical systems and electronic installations and industrial plants, and manufacturing processes and automation.

*[CG2] Ability to manage the activities object of the engineering projects described in CG1.

*[CG3] Knowledge in basic and technological subjects that will enable students to learn new methods and theories, and provide them the versatility to adapt to new situations.

*[CG4] Ability to solve problems with initiative, decision making, creativity, critical thinking and the ability to communicate and transmit knowledge and skills in the field of Industrial Engineering in Mechanical specialty.

*[CG5] Knowledge to carry out measurements, calculations, assessments, appraisals, surveys, studies, reports, work plans and other similar works.

*[CG6] Capacity for handling specifications, regulations and mandatory standards.

*[CG7] Ability to analyze and assess the social and environmental impact of the technical solutions.

*[CG8] Ability to apply the principles and methods of quality.

*[CG9] Ability to organize and plan within the sphere of a company, and other institutions and organizations.

*[CG10] Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multilingual environment.

*[CG11] Knowledge, understanding and ability to apply the necessary legislation in the exercise of the profession of Industrial Technical Engineer.

*[CG12] Original exercise to realise individually and present and defend in front of a university committee, consistent in a project in the field of the specific technologies of the Industrial Engineering in the Mechanical speciality of professional nature in which the skills and competences acquired in the educations are summarised and integrated.
